I guess you could call them my soul food and it seems I am always hungry for more! My Music What I'm doing these days and what I've been up to musically. Music Favorites A list of my favorite music, musicians and bands. My Music When I was 12, my mom and dad bought me my first guitar. It was a little 3/4 size steel string that required enormous persistence and tolerance for PAIN! It was really hard to play!! But I was determined to learn how to play Joni Mitchell and Gordon Lightfoot tunes - they were my heros at the time. I did learn to play well enough to accompany myself and I also learned how to sing. I've never gone professional with my music - selling it I mean - but I have been pushing over the years to get my work to a professional level anyway. Music is one of my muses, I love to write it, listen to it, sing it, study it and get with others and enjoy the fun of it. I love almost every style of music - the exception being rap and house - I just can't get into rap or house - I find them too repetitious. My all time favorite bands include: The Doors, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Chumbawamba, Talking Heads, Dave Matthews, The Mahavishnu Orchestra (John McLaughlin), Jethro Tull and Collective Soul, 4 Non Blondes..to name a few. My favorite female singers include: Paula Cole, Ella Fitzerald, Annie Lennox, Janis Joplin, Joni Mitchell, Phoebe Snow, Alanis Morrisette, Sarah McLaughlin, Joan Armatrading, Barbara Streisand, Peggy Lee and Kim Carnes...to name a few. My favorite male singers include: Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Marty Robbins, Billy Idol, Everclear's lead singer, Ian Anderson, Cat Stevens, Tim Buckley, Robert Plant, Hank Snow, Elvis and Van Morrison...to name a few. All of my music heroes have been guitar heroes, and they are: Jimi Hendrix, John McLaughlin, Al Dimeola, Jimmy Page, Jose Feliciano and Steve Vai. you know.
